SIU's Student Garden

We are a student initiated and operated food garden on the SIU campus that relies completely on student volunteers.  So come volunteer!  Contact us for 'Fun in the Field' volunteer times:

LOGIC was started in 2009 by students who wanted to promote sustainable food production at the local level—and this idea has proven quite successful! We have worked together to expand LOGIC to include:

  • Raised beds
  • Hoop-house
  • Permaculture site
  • Home garden demonstration site

We sell LOGIC produce at a weekly farm stand on campus. We are also a Registered Student Organization (RSO) at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, so you can join our meetings. We receive funding from the SIU Green Fund, which is one of the many sustainability initiatives on our campus.

To provide ecologically-grown produce for the university community at SIU, to promote awareness of the profitability and feasibility of sustainable gardening in our area, and to provide education and outreach for students and the larger community.

Fun in the Field Fridays, during the semester, every Friday afternoon: all are welcome!
